Foster to Forever Program” (FTF)

**** Please note that all of our puppies are in foster care and are not at our Adoption Center. If you are interested in meeting any of our dogs or puppies you will need to fill out an application first****

The LAWS “Foster to Forever Program” (FTF) applies only to puppies in our program who are not old enough or do not weigh enough to be spayed/neutered (not able to be adopted out yet through our traditional adoption process). Not all of our puppies are part of the FTF Program - only those that puppies listed on our website with FTF after their name. The program is available to Albany County residents only since the shelter needs to maintain jurisdiction over these animals until they are ready to be spayed/neutered (at 15 weeks of age –or if there is a medical concern until our vets recommendation). Instead of networking for a traditional, short-term foster parent who would bring the pet back and not adopt, we try to find Foster Parents who have the intent of adopting the animal they are fostering. This allows the foster puppy to be in a wonderful home environment and transition from a foster while in our care and into its FUREVER home with you!

LAWS Foster Parents agree to bring their foster in for booster shot appointments and for their spay/neuter appointment. Once the foster pet is spayed/neutered and micro-chipped, the adoption will be finalized.
